How to Print Your PDF Pattern
Choose the printing method that works best for you
Option 1: Print at Home (A4/Letter)
Beginner FriendlyWhat You'll Need:
-
Home printer -
Regular printer paper (A4 or Letter size) -
Paper scissors or rotary cutter -
Ruler or measuring tape -
Clear tape or glue stick
Download & Open Your Pattern
After completing your purchase, download all three pattern files to your computer. Open the A4/Letter PDF file in Adobe Reader or your preferred PDF viewer.
Pro Tip:Save all your pattern files to cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud) immediately after downloading! This ensures you'll always have access, even if you use up your 2 downloads.Check Your Print Settings
This is the most important step! Incorrect print settings will result in a pattern that's the wrong size.
-
Select "Actual Size" or "100%" -
Do NOT select "Fit to Page" or "Scale to Fit" -
Ensure "Auto-Rotate and Center" is OFF -
Print in portrait orientation
Print & Measure the Test Square
Before printing your entire pattern, print page 1 which contains the test square. Use a ruler to measure it carefully.
Success!Your pattern is correctly printed when the test square measures exactly 2" x 2" (5cm x 5cm).If your test square doesn't measure correctly, check your print settings and try again. Don't proceed until the test square is accurate!
Print Your Size
Once your test square is correct, print only the pages for your size. Our patterns are organized so you can print just what you need, saving paper and ink!
Pro Tip:Check the pattern booklet for the page range for your specific size. For example, if you're making size D, you might only need pages 5-18.
Option 2: Large Format at Copy Shop (A0)
Easiest OptionWhat You'll Need:
-
USB drive or email access -
Local copy shop or print center -
Printing cost (check with your local print shop)
Save the A0 File
Download the A0 Copy Shop PDF to a USB drive or email it to yourself.
Visit Your Local Copy Shop
Take your file to any print shop that offers large format printing. Good options include:
- FedEx Office / Kinko's
- Staples
- Office Depot
- Local blueprint / engineering print shops
Pro Tip:Tell them you need it printed at 100% scale on A0 paper (or 36" x 48" in the US). Most copy shops are familiar with printing sewing patterns!Pick Up & You're Done!
Your pattern will be printed on large format paper (some patterns may require 2-3 sheets depending on size). While there may be minimal assembly for larger patterns, it's significantly less than the A4/Letter option.
Why we love this option:Much less cutting and taping than A4, professionally printed, and ready to use quickly!
Option 3: Use a Projector
No Paper NeededWhat You'll Need:
-
Digital projector -
Laptop or computer -
Flat white surface or wall -
Pencil or fabric marker -
Your fabric
Set Up Your Projector
Open the Projector File on your computer and connect it to your projector. Lay your fabric flat on a table or pin it to a wall.
Calibrate the Size
Project the test square onto your surface and adjust the projector distance until it measures exactly 2" x 2".
Trace Directly onto Fabric
Project your pattern pieces and trace them directly onto your fabric. Eco-friendly and fast!
Why we love this option:Zero paper waste, no assembly time, and you can easily adjust sizes on the fly!
